HyperNodes installed next to remote device apart from the secure access function can also perform some very useful intelligent monitoring and control functions:

• Active monitoring: an HyperNode can check a device status by executing a device specific script that execute a login procedure to the device, execute some commands to retrieve the device status and then by analyzing it and perform a reacting according to user setting.
• Passive monitoring: an HyperNode can be setup to receive and analyze SNMP traps and react on some of them, accordingly to user's settings
• an HyperNode can check the mains power presence via an external probes
• an HyperNode can be connected to a number of monitoring probes to check environmental conditions (temperature, humidity)
• an HyperNode can check the status of different analog contacts (on/off) in order to perform intrusion detection and other similar functions

All checks are performed autonomously by each HyperNode and if certain alarm conditions are met, it will send an alarm to the HyperServer. Alarms centrally received can be notified by mail/SMS/telephone calls to selected users or forwarded to other handling software platforms.
